In my talk, I discuss how pain sensation could be essential for conscious mind for humans and robots according to the following working hypotheses. (1) Embedding touch/pain nervous system into robots. (2) Can robots use this to understand touch/pain in others (Mirror Neuron System)? (3) Can empathy and proto-morality emerge? (4) Could robots be agents who could be moral being, and subjects to moral consideration.? (5) Legal system for robots and AI will be considered. (The number indicates the order of my confidence.)
